Where land and water meet, two worlds collide. Life does not so much thrive as it does explode along the coast, and it is this extraordinary biodiversity that this workshop is design to photograph. North Carlina’s Pamlico Sound is part of the second largest estuary in North America – a place where the nutrient rich waters of the mainland mix with the salty abundance of the ocean. This mixing of waters creates a bounty of legendary proportions. With such an explosion of small marine life in this estuary, the inlets of Pamlico draw in hundreds of coastal bottlenose dolphin, nesting ospreys at every turn, the largest pelican and tern rookery in the region, some 300 different species of birds, 3 different species of sea turtles, and a host of other species. It is this riotous explosion of life that this workshop is designed to photograph.
The Coastal Wildlife Photography Workshop is a one day photographic excursion out on the emerald waters of the Pamlico Sound. Conducted from the roomy comfort of a 24′ skiff, our boat provides plenty of room for tripod, extra gear, and mobility. Our three main concentrations will be osprey, bottlenose dolphins, and Pelican Island – a lump of sand that is sure to have you filling up memory cards.
Price: $300 per person; discounts for groups of 2 or more.
