Photo Adventures

The natural beauty of the Outer Banks and surrounding areas is legendary. Throughout history there has been much debate as to the economic and strategic potential of these barrier islands. However one thing has held sway since 1497, when Amerigo Vespuci (for whom America is named after) first anchored inside the Hatteras Bight – the health and beauty of this windswept landscape awash in blowing sand and ocean waves was breathe taking. Arthur Barlowe of the first Roanoke expedition in 1584 wrote several pages on the matter, as did the famed naturalist John Lawson in the late 1600s, and Edmund Ruffin in the 1850s. The Outer Banks is now considered to be one of the top five most beautiful beaches in America.

In terms of photography, the opportunities for images does not stop with our beaches or even the islands. The geographic orientation of the islands and unique shallow sound and swamps that make up the inner banks boast some of the most impressive wildlife and birding spectacles on the East Coast.

Our photography trips are divided into two categories: Photo Tours and Photo Workshops. We offer these two categories due to the wide diversity of both customers and photographic interests. Our photography tours are typically informal half day trips lasting around 4 hours or so and are offered upon request. These trips are available all year. Photography workshops on the other hand are the photographic intensive side of what we offer. Workshops range from full day events to week long sessions and take place in a number of different locations.

** Update ** All Photography Workshops, that is, the longer more intensive photography trips that Outer Banks Expeditions offered, is now being ran through www.JaredLloydPhoto.com. You can still click on the Photography Workshop link below and you will be taken directly to the appropriate site.
